: How to Use the Diagnostic Data Viewer on Windows 11

The Windows Diagnostic Data Viewer (DDV) is a Microsoft Store application that lets you review the exact diagnostic data your device collects and transmits to Microsoft in real-time. It is a transparency tool designed to give you full visibility into what telemetry data is leaving your machine. How to Enable and Setup the Viewer

By default, data viewing is turned off to save disk space. To use it, you must manually enable it through your system settings: Open Settings: Press Win + I on your keyboard. Navigate to Privacy:

On Windows 11: Go to Privacy & security > Diagnostics & feedback. On Windows 10: Go to Privacy > Diagnostics & feedback.

Turn on the Viewer: Scroll down to the View diagnostic data section and toggle the switch to On.

Install the Tool: Click the Open Diagnostic Data Viewer button. If you do not have the app installed, Windows will automatically redirect you to the Microsoft Store to download it.

(Note: Keeping this feature active can use up to 1 GB of disk space, so it is recommended to turn it off when you are done investigating your data). What You Can See in the Viewer

The app translates raw JSON telemetry payloads into plain, readable event categories: Diagnostic Data Viewer – Windows Privacy – Microsoft Learn
