KLONK Image Measurement is a specialized planimetric software tool designed to acquire, calibrate, and extract precise quantitative data from digital images. Originally developed in 1993 for medical research—specifically for tracing pain areas and calculating wound sizes—it has since evolved into a versatile tool used across multiple industries including engineering, biological research, design, and manufacturing. The software allows you to accurately measure angles, lengths, perimeters, and surface areas directly on any digital image. Core Measurement Capabilities
The software simplifies complex spatial math down to a few clicks through dedicated measurement tracking tools:
Length, Width, & Height: Use the Line Measurement tool to click from one point to another to instantly derive exact lengths.
Area & Circumference: Select the Area Measurement tool and click along the contours of an object. The software automatically closes the multi-point polygon shape to output perimeter length and surface area simultaneously.
Angles: Activate the Angle Measurement tool and click three successive points to map out and measure specific vertex degrees. Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners
To achieve high-precision measurements, every beginner needs to master the 4 basic workflow steps: 1. Image Acquisition
Ensure your initial photo is taken at a strict perpendicular angle (90 degrees directly above the target area) with the object laying completely flat. This minimizes optical distortion. You can import standard picture formats, complex vector layouts, proprietary Photoshop layers, Camera RAW files, medical DICOM formats, or pull coordinates directly from Google Maps. 2. Image Calibration
Because digital images only contain pixels, you must translate pixels into real-world units (e.g., millimeters, centimeters, or inches).
Place a physical reference object—like a standard ruler—on the exact same plane as your item when taking the photo.
Open the image in the software and use the calibration tool to draw a line over a known distance on your ruler.
Type the actual physical dimension (e.g., “1.5 cm”) into the prompt box. The software will instantly calibrate all remaining pixel ratios across the image. 3. Image Correction & Editing Get started – KLONK Image Measurement
